Assure Okay - Check-in App for People Living Alone

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 28th, 2026

At AssureOkay, operated by Grepus LLC ("we," "us," "our"), we prioritize the protection of your privacy and personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding data collection, use, and protection at AssureOkay.com and our mobile applications (iOS and Android). By using the AssureOkay website, mobile applications, and services (collectively, "the Service"), you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

To provide our check-in and safety monitoring services, AssureOkay collects the following types of information:

Account and Profile Information

  • Name, email address, phone number, and time zone
  • Account credentials (password, authentication tokens)
  • Country, country code, and city (if provided)
  • Profile preferences and settings
  • Onboarding profile details, which may include age group, living situation, health concerns, and information about who worries about you

Emergency Contact Information

  • Names, email addresses, and phone numbers of your designated emergency contacts
  • Contact opt-in status and communication preferences

Information About People You Set Up or Monitor

AssureOkay lets you set up and pay for check-ins on behalf of another person (for example, an older parent or relative), and lets emergency contacts create their own account to follow the people they look after. When you use these features, we collect:

  • For a person you set up ("managed account"): the name, email address, phone number, time zone, and check-in preferences you provide on their behalf, so we can create their account and deliver their check-ins
  • The relationship between accounts — who set up an account for whom, and which emergency contacts are linked to a login account as a "watcher"
  • Watcher monitoring preferences and the per-event notification channels (email, SMS, push) each watcher has chosen for missed and successful check-ins
  • Records of who can view a monitored person's activity, when that access was granted, and when it was revoked

Check-in and Schedule Data

  • Check-in schedules, frequencies, and times
  • Check-in history and status (completed, missed)
  • Wellness check-in responses and mood data
  • Streak and engagement data

Location Information

If you turn on location sharing in the app, AssureOkay attaches your device's location to certain safety events so the people who look after you can find you if you need help. We collect:

  • Approximate or precise GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) of your device
  • The estimated accuracy of the reading (in meters) and the time the location was recorded
  • Whether the reading is a fresh fix taken at the moment of the event or your device's last known location

Location is captured only at the moment of a specific safety event: when you complete a check-in, submit a wellness response, trigger the watch SOS / emergency button, or when your watch reports a passive presence signal. It is never collected continuously or in the background, and we do not track your movements over time. Location sharing is optional: a check-in, alarm, or signal is always accepted and processed even when no location is available, and you can turn location off at any time from your device's settings or the in-app Location screen. You can also turn off location sharing for individual emergency contacts. Locations are shown to your contacts and watchers as a map link that opens Google Maps or Apple Maps; we do not use a third-party mapping or geocoding service to process your coordinates.

Pet Information

  • Pet names, types, breeds, medical needs, feeding instructions, care instructions, veterinarian name, and veterinarian phone number

Digital Will Data (Plus Subscribers)

  • Documents and files you upload for storage and distribution
  • Personalized messages you write for designated contacts
  • Executor and contact designations and permissions
  • Verification status and release history
  • File assignment configurations (which contacts receive which files)

Note: If you choose to encrypt your Digital Will documents, your 12-word recovery phrase is stored only in your local browser or device storage and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Health and Presence Signals (Apple Watch / Wear OS)

If you opt in to passive presence detection on a paired smartwatch — an Apple Watch via Apple HealthKit, or a Wear OS watch via Google Health Services (using the READ_HEART_RATE health permission) — AssureOkay collects a minimal set of health and activity signals strictly to infer that you are alive and active during your scheduled check-in windows. This feature is off by default and is enabled separately from any other consent, after you grant the relevant health permission on your device.

  • Heart rate samples (numeric value and timestamp)
  • Step count samples (numeric value, observation timestamp, and the time window the count covers)
  • The platform that produced the signal (e.g., iOS, watchOS, Wear OS / Android) and the time the sample was observed

We do not collect raw heart-rate waveforms, ECG traces, blood oxygen, sleep stages, workout details, stand-hour events, or any other HealthKit or Health Services data category beyond the items listed above. We do not read location from HealthKit or Google Health Services; if you have separately enabled location sharing, your device's last known location may accompany a presence signal as described under “Location Information” above. Presence signals are used only to (a) suppress reminder notifications when activity is recently detected, (b) auto-complete a pending check-in when activity is observed inside its window, and (c) display a "last signal received" indicator inside the app. They are never used for advertising and are never used to train third-party AI models. Presence signals are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted, and you may request earlier deletion at any time by emailing support@AssureOkay.com.

Emergency Button (Watch SOS) Data

If you use the watch-based emergency button to manually trigger an alarm, AssureOkay records:

  • The time you triggered the alarm and the time it was received by our servers
  • The trigger source (e.g., watch_panic) and a client-generated alarm identifier used for retry/idempotency
  • Whether and when the alarm was cancelled, resolved, or escalated, and which contacts were notified, on which channel (email, SMS), and at what time
  • The outcome of escalation (acknowledgements by contacts, AI phone-call attempts, etc.)

We do not attach audio or biometric payloads to a manually triggered alarm. If you have enabled location sharing, your device's location at the moment you trigger the alarm may be attached to it and shown to the contacts who are notified, as described under “Location Information” above; if location sharing is off or no location is available, the alarm is still raised and escalated without it. The data above is retained as part of your check-in/alarm history for the duration of your active account, except that alarms cancelled by you within the pre-escalation grace window are pruned within 90 days.

AI Phone Check-in Data (Plus Subscribers)

  • Voice recordings from AI phone calls
  • Transcripts of conversations
  • AI analysis results and safety assessments
  • Call metadata (timing, duration, status)

Device and Technical Information

  • Device type, operating system, and version
  • App version and build number
  • Push notification tokens, including Expo push tokens for mobile app notifications
  • Browser type and version (for web access)
  • IP address
  • Crash reports and error logs

Payment Information

  • Subscription plan and billing cycle
  • Payment method details are processed by our payment processors (Stripe, Apple App Store, or Google Play Store). We store only the last four digits and type of your payment card for display purposes; full payment details are not stored on our servers
  • Transaction history and subscription status

Usage Data

  • Information about how you interact with our Service, including pages visited, features used, and actions taken
  • Visitor analytics data, including hashed IP address, referrer domain and path, device type, browser, country, and city
  • Referral information (if you joined through a referral link)
  • Activity audit logs that record changes made to your account data for security and integrity purposes

How We Use Your Information

AssureOkay uses your information to:

  • Provide and maintain our check-in and safety monitoring services
  • Send reminders for scheduled check-ins via push notifications, email, SMS, or AI phone calls
  • Notify emergency contacts if you miss a check-in
  • Set up and maintain accounts you create on behalf of another person, including deferring the start of their subscription and check-ins until they first sign in, and billing the plan to your payment method
  • Allow people you authorize ("watchers," such as a family member or caregiver) to view a read-only summary of a monitored person's check-in status, schedule, and history, to receive notifications when that person checks in or misses a check-in, and — where the monitored person has granted it — to pause or resume that person's check-in schedule
  • Tell a monitored person who is following their activity and let them revoke that access
  • Use opt-in health and activity signals from a paired Apple Watch (HealthKit) or Wear OS watch (Google Health Services) strictly to infer that you are alive and active during a check-in window, suppress unnecessary reminders, and auto-complete a pending check-in
  • Process and escalate user-initiated emergency alerts (e.g., the watch SOS / panic button), including the 30-second pre-escalation cancellation window and post-escalation "false alarm" cancellation flow
  • Where you have enabled location sharing, attach your device's location to a check-in, wellness response, presence signal, or emergency alarm and make it available to your emergency contacts and watchers so they can find you if you need help
  • Store and distribute Digital Will documents and personalized messages according to your settings
  • Process verification checks and executor release requests for the Digital Will feature
  • Improve and personalize our services
  • Communicate with you about your account and our services
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Detect and prevent fraud and abuse
  • Monitor and improve application performance and stability
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • For Plus subscribers with AI Phone Check-ins:
    • Make automated phone calls at scheduled times
    • Process and analyze voice interactions for safety assessment
    • Train and improve our AI systems
    • Monitor service quality and effectiveness
    • Maintain call records for safety and verification purposes

AI Phone Check-in Data Processing

For Plus subscribers using our AI Phone Check-in feature:

Sharing Your Information

AssureOkay does not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With your emergency contacts, as per your settings and in case of missed check-ins
  • With your emergency contacts and watchers, the device location attached to a check-in, presence signal, or emergency alarm (shown as a map link) when you have enabled location sharing and have not disabled it for that contact
  • With people you (or a person who set up your account) have authorized as "watchers" — such as a family member or caregiver who follows your check-ins. A watcher can see a read-only summary of your check-in status, schedule, upcoming and past check-ins, and pet information, and can receive notifications when you check in or miss a check-in. A watcher you have granted the relevant permission may also pause or resume your check-in schedule. You are told when someone begins watching your activity, and you can revoke their access at any time from your settings
  • If someone set up and pays for your account on your behalf, that person is the account manager and can view your check-in activity and manage the associated subscription until you take over the account; they cannot see your account password
  • With designated Digital Will contacts and executors, when documents are released according to your settings
  • With service providers who assist us in operating our business and providing our services, including:
    • Stripe - payment processing and subscription management
    • Twilio - SMS messaging and phone services
    • Bland AI - AI-powered phone call services (voice data is shared for call processing)
    • Rollbar - error tracking and crash reporting
    • Apple App Store / Google Play Store - in-app purchase processing
    • OpenAI - AI-powered analysis of wellness check-in data, including sentiment analysis and wellness insights
    • Expo - push notification delivery for our mobile applications
    • Email delivery services - for sending notifications and alerts
  • If required by law, legal process, or government request
  • To protect our rights, safety, or property, or the safety of our users
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified of any such change)

Data Storage and International Transfers

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where our servers are located and our central database is operated. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.

Our third-party service providers may also process your data in other jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy regardless of where it is processed.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Specific retention periods include:

  • Account data: Retained for the duration of your active account. Permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Check-in history: Retained for the duration of your active account. Permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Emergency contact information: Retained while the contact is active on your account. Permanently deleted within 30 days of contact removal or account deletion.
  • Monitoring relationships (watchers and managed accounts): The links between accounts, watcher permissions, and watcher notification preferences are retained while the relationship is active. They are removed when you revoke a watcher, when a contact or account is deleted, or within 30 days of account deletion. Each linked account's own data is retained according to that account's status.
  • AI voice recordings: Retained for up to 30 days after the call. Metadata and safety assessments may be retained longer.
  • Presence signals (Apple Watch / Wear OS): Retained for up to 30 days from the time the sample was observed and then automatically pruned. You may purge stored signals at any time from the app.
  • Location data: Stored as part of the check-in, presence signal, or alarm it was attached to, and retained and deleted on the same schedule as that record. Location attached to a presence signal is pruned with that signal within 30 days; location attached to check-in or alarm history is deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • User-triggered emergency alarms: Active and resolved alarms are retained for the duration of your active account as part of your alarm history. Alarms cancelled by you within the 30-second pre-escalation grace window (i.e., before any contact was notified) are pruned within 90 days.
  • Digital Will documents: Retained for the duration of your active Plus subscription. Deleted 30 days after account termination or subscription lapse.
  • Payment and transaction data: Retained as required by financial regulations and tax law (typically up to 7 years for transaction records).
  • Error logs and crash reports: Retained for up to 90 days.
  • Usage and analytics data: Retained in aggregated, anonymized form indefinitely for service improvement.

Sensitive Health Data and Opt-In Controls

Heart rate and step counts read from an Apple Watch (HealthKit) or a Wear OS watch (Google Health Services) are treated as sensitive health information. We collect them only when you have separately opted in to passive presence detection, we use them only for the limited safety-inference purposes described above, and we do not sell, share for advertising, or use them to train third-party AI models. You can withdraw consent at any time by revoking AssureOkay's health permissions — on iPhone, from the Health app; on Wear OS / Android, from the watch's system Settings → Apps → AssureOkay → Permissions (or the device's Health permissions screen) — which immediately stops new collection, and you may request deletion of previously collected signals by emailing support@AssureOkay.com. AssureOkay is not a HIPAA-covered entity and does not act as a covered entity or business associate; the Service is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, monitor, or prevent any medical condition.

Accounts Set Up for Others, Watchers, and Caregivers

AssureOkay supports relationships between accounts so that families and caregivers can help keep each other safe. This section explains how personal information flows in those relationships.

  • Setting up an account for someone else. If you create and pay for an account on behalf of another person, you provide their contact details to us. We use that information to invite them and to run their check-ins. Their subscription, trial, and check-ins begin when they first sign in. Once they sign in, the account is theirs to control; as the manager you can continue to view their check-in activity and manage the subscription you pay for, but you do not have access to their password and cannot read content they choose not to share.
  • Becoming a watcher. If you are listed as someone's emergency contact, you can create your own AssureOkay account to follow the people who added you. When your account is linked to a contact record (either because your email matches the address on file or because you accept an invitation), you become a "watcher" and can see a read-only summary of that person's check-in activity.
  • What a watcher can see. A watcher sees a monitored person's check-in status, schedule, upcoming and past check-ins, and pet information. A watcher does not see the monitored person's account password, payment details, wellness journal entries, AI call recordings or transcripts, or Digital Will contents.
  • Notice and revocation. We notify a monitored person whenever a new watcher gains access to their activity, and they can revoke any watcher's access at any time from their settings. Once revoked, we do not automatically re-link that watcher.
  • Caregiver controls. A monitored person can grant a watcher permission to pause and resume their check-in schedule. We notify the monitored person when a caregiver changes their schedule.

If you set up an account for another person or add someone as an emergency contact, you confirm to us that you have that person's consent to provide their information and to have them contacted or monitored as described. If you believe an account or contact relationship was created without your consent, please contact us at support@AssureOkay.com.

Data Security

We implement various security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of sensitive data in transit and at rest, secure socket layer (SSL) technology, and access controls. Digital Will documents may be additionally encrypted using client-side encryption with your personal recovery phrase. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out of marketing communications
  • Disable push notifications through your device settings
  • Turn off location sharing at any time from your device's settings or the in-app Location screen, and disable it for individual emergency contacts
  • Revoke AssureOkay's health permissions — HealthKit from the Health app on your iPhone, or the watch's Health / app permissions in system Settings on Wear OS / Android — which immediately stops new presence signals from being shared with the Service
  • Request deletion of presence signals previously collected from your device by emailing support@AssureOkay.com

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the Settings page within the AssureOkay app or website. When you delete your account:

  • Your account is deactivated immediately and you will be logged out
  • All personal data — including check-in schedules, emergency contacts, pet information, wellness data, and Digital Will documents — is permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Digital Will documents already released to contacts prior to deletion remain accessible to those contacts
  • Your subscription will be cancelled
  • This action is permanent and cannot be undone
