# AssureOkay > AssureOkay is a safety check-in service for people living alone. Users schedule daily or weekly check-ins and if they fail to respond, their emergency contacts are automatically notified via email, SMS, and optional AI phone calls. Plans start at $4.99/month. ## About AssureOkay was founded by Enzo, a father whose wife works as a ship building project manager and frequently travels for extended periods during ship deliveries. The concern about what would happen to his child if something happened to him while alone was amplified by the tragic 2024 Skegness, UK incident, where a two-year-old boy named Bronson Battersby was found dead alongside his father, who had passed away from a heart attack. The tragedy wasn't discovered for several days. According to recent reports, approximately 8,000-9,000 people in the UK died alone in 2022 and weren't found for at least a week. The number of single-person households has been steadily increasing, and while independence can be empowering, many people lack the immediate support network they need in emergencies. AssureOkay aims to be an invisible safety net — a simple yet effective way for people to regularly check in, providing peace of mind for themselves and their loved ones. Whether it's for solo travelers, elderly parents living independently, or anyone who spends significant time alone. ## How It Works Users set up a schedule for regular check-ins (daily, weekly, or custom) and choose one of two check-in styles: **Notification-based (default):** At your scheduled time, AssureOkay sends you a reminder. You then have a grace period (configurable from 10 to 180 minutes) to check in. If you don't check in within that window, your emergency contacts are notified. **Deadline-based:** You can check in anytime before your scheduled deadline. A reminder is sent before the deadline (e.g., 30 minutes prior) if you haven't checked in yet. After the deadline passes, you have a short grace period (up to 60 minutes) before your emergency contacts are notified. Both styles support daily, weekly, or custom frequencies. You can switch between them anytime in Settings. AssureOkay can be used for yourself or for someone you care about. During onboarding you choose whether you're setting up check-ins for yourself or for another person (such as an older parent or relative). When you set up an account for someone else, you pay for it and help configure it, and they take control of it when they first sign in. Separately, anyone listed as an emergency contact can create a free account to follow the people they look after. See "Setting Up AssureOkay for Someone Else" and "Following Someone You Care About" below. The AssureOkay app is available on the Apple App Store (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/assureokay/id6759099619) and Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.assureokay.app) for iPhone and Android devices with push notifications and one-tap check-ins. Native Apple Watch and Wear OS companion apps are included at no extra cost, adding one-tap SOS, automatic check-in via Apple Health or Health Connect, and watch face complications. No smartphone is required, AssureOkay also works entirely without a smartphone. All you need is an email address and access to a web browser on any device. Check-in reminders arrive by email with a link to check in from any browser. Optional extras include web push notifications, SMS text message check-ins (Plus plan), and AI phone calls (Plus plan) to any phone including landlines and flip phones. ## Mobile Apps - [App Store (iOS)](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/assureokay/id6759099619): Native iPhone app with push notifications, one-tap check-ins, and full account management. - [Google Play (Android)](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.assureokay.app): Native Android app with push notifications, one-tap check-ins, and full account management. - [Apple Watch app](https://assureokay.com/apple-watch-checkin-app): Native watchOS companion to the iPhone app. Adds one-tap SOS to alert your emergency contacts, automatic check-in via Apple Health (steps and heart rate), watch face complications, and a cancel countdown to prevent false alarms. Included at no extra cost. Requires Apple Watch Series 4 or later (including SE and Ultra), watchOS 10+ paired with iOS 17+. - [Wear OS app](https://assureokay.com/wear-os-checkin-app): Native Wear OS companion to the Android app. Adds one-tap SOS to alert your emergency contacts, automatic check-in via Health Connect (steps and heart rate), and a cancel countdown to prevent false alarms. Included at no extra cost. ## Core Features ### Safety Check-Ins Set up your check-in schedule to fit your lifestyle. Choose from daily, weekly, or multiple times per day, and adjust the timing to your preferences. Receive timely notifications based on your schedule and time zone. ### Emergency Contact Notifications - Add up to 5 emergency contacts - Each contact needs a name, email, and optionally a mobile phone number - Contacts receive notifications via both email and SMS when a check-in is missed - You can customize instructions for each contact - Contacts can be notified of successful check-ins (optional) - Contacts don't need an AssureOkay account - New contacts receive an invitation by email and SMS with a secure link to confirm they agree to receive alerts - They choose whether to receive alerts by email, SMS, or both - Alerts are sent only after they complete the opt-in ### AI Emergency Contact Calls (Plus Plan) When you miss a check-in (or trigger an SOS) and do not respond, the Plus plan can place automated AI phone calls to your emergency contacts, not just email and text them. This is different from the AI Phone Check-In feature, where the assistant calls *you*: here the assistant calls the people you trust when you have not responded. How it works: - Your contacts first get a few minutes to respond to the email or text alert, which carries a link to confirm they have seen it. Only if no one has responded do the calls begin. - The AI assistant introduces itself as an automated assistant (it never pretends to be a person), explains that you missed a check-in or raised an alarm, and asks the contact to reach you or check on you in person. It can read out your phone number and relay any instructions you left for that contact. - Each contact is called up to three times, a few minutes apart. If a call reaches voicemail, the assistant leaves a message. - Calls to a contact stop as soon as that contact confirms they have seen the alert. Every call stops the moment you check in or cancel the alarm. Because the goal is to reach someone who can help, one contact acknowledging does not silence the calls to the others. - Calls work on any phone, including landlines and flip phones, and run wherever AssureOkay supports phone calls (currently in English). - AI calls to contacts are opt-in on both sides: you enable them, and each contact consents to being called. Call recordings and transcripts are private and are never shown to other contacts or watchers. ### SMS Check-In (Plus Plan) Check in via text message — no app or internet required. At your scheduled check-in time, AssureOkay sends you an SMS. Reply with anything ("Ok", "Good morning", a thumbs up) to confirm you're safe. If you don't reply within your check-in window, your emergency contacts are automatically notified. Key benefits: - Works on any phone that can send text messages, including basic phones and flip phones - No internet connection needed — SMS works over cellular networks - No special codes or keywords required — any reply counts as a check-in - Personalized messages use your name - Works alongside other check-in methods (web, AI phone calls, push notifications) - Available in all supported countries SMS check-ins are ideal for elderly parents who aren't comfortable with apps, people in areas with poor internet, or anyone who prefers the simplicity of texting. You can set up SMS check-ins for someone else — they only need a phone that receives texts while you handle setup through the web dashboard. ### AI Phone Check-In (Plus Plan) An advanced feature that provides an additional layer of safety through automated phone calls. How it works: 1. At your scheduled check-in time, the AI assistant calls your registered phone number (maximum once per day). 2. The AI has a brief, natural conversation to verify your wellbeing. 3. If you confirm you're okay, the check-in is marked as complete. 4. If you indicate you need help, or if the conversation raises concerns, your emergency contacts are notified immediately. 5. If you miss the first call, two more attempts are made every ten minutes. 6. You can choose whether to trigger the alarm right after those three missed calls or wait until your grace period ends (default). Key benefits: - No need to use the app — just answer the phone to check in - Natural conversation with AI that can understand context and detect distress - Works with any phone — no smartphone required - Currently available in English (more languages coming soon) - Only available with notification-based schedules (not deadline-based) Save the caller ID so your phone doesn't flag the call as spam. AI Phone calls are available in the same countries where phone calls are supported (see supported countries below). ### Wellness Check-Ins (All Plans) Optional emotional wellbeing tracking alongside safety check-ins. After your daily check-in, share how you're feeling through a simple emoji-based flow and optional AI-powered conversation. - Track your mood over time to identify patterns - AI-powered insights and personalized recommendations - Private by default — wellness data is encrypted and only you control what is shared - Optional alerts when concerning patterns are detected ### Digital Will Storage (Plus Plan) Securely store your will, power of attorney, healthcare directives, and other critical documents. Documents are protected with encryption at rest and secure cloud storage with redundant backups. - Upload documents and choose which contacts can view each file - Add personalized messages per contact - Three release mechanisms: 1. Verification timeout: Miss periodic verification (30/60/90 day intervals) after a 7-day grace period 2. Executor request: Trusted executors can request release (48-hour response window) 3. Manual release: Emergency instant release - Email and SMS reminders for verification - Release history tracking - Storage limits based on plan ### Apple Watch App (All Plans) A native watchOS companion app that turns your wrist into the fastest way to ask for help — and the easiest way to confirm you're okay without lifting a finger. The watch app is included on every plan at no extra cost, and an Apple Watch is not required to use AssureOkay. What it adds: - **One-tap SOS:** Press & hold a single big button on your wrist to alert your emergency contacts by email and SMS. No PIN, no menus. - **Cancel countdown:** Every SOS starts with a short countdown and a haptic buzz so accidental taps from a sleeve or pocket never become false alarms. - **Auto check-in via Apple Health:** When your check-in window opens, AssureOkay reads recent step count and heart rate samples from Apple Health on-device. If either shows activity, you're checked in automatically — no tap required. - **Watch face complication:** Ships in all four modern accessory complication sizes (circular, corner, rectangular, inline) so you can pin SOS to any complication-supporting watch face on watchOS 10+. Also appears in the Smart Stack. - **Cellular ready:** On a cellular Apple Watch, SOS sends and check-ins sync wherever you have signal or Wi-Fi, even when your iPhone isn't nearby. Privacy: - HealthKit access is granular — you toggle each data type (steps, heart rate) independently - Read-only: AssureOkay never writes to Health data - Health samples are read on-device - Revoke any time from Settings → Health → Apps → AssureOkay - No measurable battery drain — AssureOkay reads cached Health summaries the watch already tracks, only when a check-in window is active Requirements: Apple Watch Series 4 or later (including SE 1st & 2nd gen and every Ultra model), watchOS 10+ paired with an iPhone running iOS 17+. How is this different from Apple's built-in Emergency SOS? Apple's Emergency SOS calls local emergency services (911, 112, 999, etc.). AssureOkay's SOS notifies *your* chosen emergency contacts (family, friends, neighbours) by email and SMS. The two work side by side and solve different problems. ### Pet Safety Features Ensure your pets receive immediate care during emergencies. Over 85% of pet owners worry about what would happen to their pets in an emergency. - Pet profiles with names, species, and medical needs - Detailed care instructions included in emergency notifications - Supply locations: specify where emergency contacts can find pet food, medications, and supplies - Veterinarian contact details for emergency access - Handling guidelines: notes about each pet's temperament and handling needs ### Setting Up AssureOkay for Someone Else (Managed Accounts) AssureOkay isn't only for setting up your own check-ins — you can set one up for a loved one who might not do it themselves, such as an elderly parent or a relative living alone. How it works: - During onboarding (or later from your account), choose to set up check-ins for another person and enter their name, email, and phone number. - You choose their plan and pay for it from your own account and payment method. - They receive a friendly, passwordless invitation by email, with a secure link to sign in on their own device. If their phone number is an eligible US, Canadian, or UK mobile, you can instead choose to invite them by text message: they simply reply YES to start their daily check-ins, with no app to install, no website to visit, and no password (this uses text check-ins, which are part of the Plus plan). Whichever you pick, the emailed link is always sent as well, and if the invite goes unanswered we send one friendly reminder (by both text and email) after 48 hours. - Their trial and check-ins begin only when they first sign in or reply YES, so nothing starts billing or alerting before they're actually using it. - Once they sign in, the account belongs to them. They can change their settings, add their own contacts, and take over or transfer billing. As the person who set it up, you can keep following their check-in activity and manage the subscription you pay for, but you never see their password. This makes AssureOkay practical for adult children setting up a safety net for aging parents, or for anyone helping a less tech-comfortable relative get protected. ### Following Someone You Care About (Watcher Dashboard) If you're listed as someone's emergency contact, you can follow the people who added you from a free AssureOkay account, no paid plan required just to watch. When someone adds you as a contact you receive an invitation, and a single tap creates your watcher account and lets you set your alert preferences. There is no password and no separate sign-up step: watcher accounts use the same passwordless sign-in as the rest of AssureOkay (a secure email link, or Apple/Google sign-in). What a watcher can do: - See a read-only dashboard for each person you follow: their current check-in status, schedule, next check-in, and a history of completed and missed check-ins, plus their pet information. - Get notified when the person checks in (reassurance) or misses a check-in (an alert). You control your own notification channels per person — email, SMS, and push — separately for missed check-ins and successful check-ins. - If the person grants you permission, act as a caregiver and pause or resume their check-in schedule (for example, while they're travelling or in hospital). Pausing stops missed-check-in alerts until you resume. Privacy and consent: - A watcher link is established with the monitored person's involvement — either their account email matches the contact you were added under, or they invite you — and the monitored person is notified whenever a new watcher gains access. - The monitored person can revoke any watcher's access at any time from their settings, and revoked watchers are not silently re-linked. - Watchers see check-in activity only. They never see the monitored person's password, payment details, wellness journal entries, AI phone-call recordings or transcripts, or Digital Will contents. If you're a watcher who isn't being monitored yourself, you can also start your own check-ins at any time without going through the full setup again. ### AssureOkay for Organizations (Organization Tier) Beyond individuals and families, AssureOkay serves organizations that are responsible for the wellbeing of many people who live alone: senior living and independent living communities, social housing providers, charities, and supported-living or support agencies. How it works for organizations: - Residents or clients check in on the phone they already own — the app, a text message, or an automated wellness phone call. No pendants, sensors, cameras, warden-call units, or any other hardware to install or maintain. - Staff get a single organization dashboard showing everyone the organization looks after, who has checked in today, and who is outstanding. - When someone misses their check-in window, alerts escalate automatically to the right staff and to the resident's own emergency contacts. - Residents are added by staff, individually or in bulk via CSV import. - Privacy is consent-gated: a resident's detailed check-in activity is only visible to organization staff with the resident's consent, and residents keep control of their own account and contacts. Organization plans are contract-based with a per-seat entitlement rather than self-serve monthly billing. Organizations request a plan or a demo through the contact-sales form; pricing is quoted per contract. This makes AssureOkay a low-cost, hardware-free alternative to traditional telecare and warden-call systems (for example Alertacall's OKEachDay) and to overnight staffing for remote supports. ## Pricing Start with a 3-day free trial. AssureOkay is a check-in service designed to provide peace of mind for individuals living alone or in potentially vulnerable situations. It allows users to set up regular check-ins and automatically notifies designated emergency contacts if a check-in is missed. ### Do I need a smartphone to use AssureOkay? No. AssureOkay works entirely without a smartphone. All you need is an email address and access to a web browser on any device. Check-in reminders arrive by email with a link to check in. However, if you do have a smartphone, you can download the native AssureOkay app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for the best experience with push notifications and one-tap check-ins. You can also enable SMS text message check-ins (Plus plan) or AI phone calls (Plus plan) which work with any phone including landlines and flip phones. ### Does AssureOkay work with my Apple Watch? Yes. AssureOkay has a native Apple Watch companion app that adds one-tap SOS (press and hold to alert your emergency contacts by email and SMS), a cancel countdown to prevent accidental alarms, automatic check-ins via Apple Health (steps and heart rate), and a watch face complication for instant access. On cellular Apple Watch models, SOS and check-ins work without your iPhone nearby. Requirements: Apple Watch Series 4 or later (including SE and Ultra), watchOS 10+ paired with iOS 17+. The watch app is included at no extra cost and an Apple Watch is not required to use AssureOkay. ### How does Apple Watch auto check-in work, and is my Health data safe? When your check-in window opens, AssureOkay reads the most recent step count and heart rate samples from Apple Health on your device. If either shows activity, you're checked in automatically; otherwise you get a normal reminder. Privacy: the HealthKit prompt lets you toggle each data type independently, access is read-only, samples are read on-device, and you can revoke access any time from Settings → Health → Apps → AssureOkay. There is no measurable battery drain because AssureOkay reads cached Health summaries the watch already tracks, only when a check-in window is active. ### Can I check in earlier than my scheduled time? It depends on your check-in style. With notification-based check-ins, you can only check in during your scheduled window (from your scheduled time through the grace period). With deadline-based check-ins, you can check in anytime before your deadline. ### How do I sign in? Do I need a password? AssureOkay is passwordless. Your account has no password to create, remember, or reset. To sign in you enter your email and we send a secure single-use link (a "magic link"), or you use Apple sign-in or Google sign-in. This is deliberate: it removes the most common barrier for older and less tech-comfortable users, and there are no passwords to be phished or leaked. Emergency contacts who become watchers, and relatives set up by a family member, are onboarded the same passwordless way from the invitation they receive. ### How do I install the AssureOkay app on my phone? The easiest way is to download the native app from the Apple App Store (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/assureokay/id6759099619) for iPhone or the Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.assureokay.app) for Android. You can also install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA): on iPhone/iOS, open Safari, go to assureokay.com, tap the share button, and select "Add to Home Screen." On Android, open Chrome, go to assureokay.com, tap the three-dot menu, and select "Add to Home screen" or "Install app." ### What are web push notifications and how do I enable them? Web push notifications are messages sent to your device from the website, even when you're not actively browsing. On Android, tap the lock icon in your browser address bar, go to Site settings or Site permissions, then Notifications, and select Allow. On iOS, install the PWA first, then enable notifications in your iPhone Settings under Notifications. ### How do my emergency contacts confirm they want alerts? New contacts receive an invitation by email and SMS with a secure link to confirm they agree to receive alerts. They do not need an AssureOkay account. They choose whether to receive alerts by email, SMS, or both. Alerts are only sent after they complete the opt-in. You can resend the invitation from your contacts list if they miss it. ### Will AssureOkay call my emergency contacts if I don't respond? On the Plus plan, yes. If you miss a check-in (or trigger an SOS) and do not respond, AssureOkay does not only email and text your emergency contacts, an AI assistant can also phone them. The assistant introduces itself as an automated assistant, explains that you missed a check-in or raised an alarm, and asks the contact to reach you or check on you in person; it can read out your number and relay instructions you left. Contacts get a few minutes to respond to the alert link first, then the calls begin. Each contact is called up to three times, a few minutes apart, with a voicemail left if unanswered. Calls to a contact stop once they confirm they have seen the alert, and all calls stop the moment you check in or cancel. It works on any phone including landlines, runs wherever phone calls are supported (currently English), and is opt-in: you turn it on and each contact consents to being called. This is separate from AI Phone Check-In, where the assistant calls you rather than your contacts. ### Can I set up AssureOkay for my parent or someone else? Yes. You can create and pay for a check-in account on behalf of another person, such as an elderly parent or a relative living alone. You enter their details and choose their plan, and they receive a passwordless invitation by email. If they have an eligible US, Canadian, or UK mobile number, you can instead invite them by text message, where they just reply YES to start (no app, website, or password); the emailed link is always sent too. Their trial and check-ins start when they first sign in or reply YES, and from then on the account is theirs to control while you continue to follow their activity and manage the subscription you pay for. You never see their password. ### I'm an emergency contact — can I see if the person I look after is okay? Yes. If you've been added as someone's emergency contact, you can create a free AssureOkay account and become a "watcher." You'll see a read-only dashboard of their check-in status, schedule, and history, and you can be notified when they check in or miss a check-in. If they give you permission, you can also pause or resume their check-in schedule. The person you follow is always told who is watching them and can revoke your access at any time. Watchers only see check-in activity — never passwords, payment details, wellness journals, AI call recordings, or Digital Will contents. ### How does AssureOkay protect my privacy and security? All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is available. Regular security audits and penetration testing are performed. AssureOkay is GDPR and CCPA compliant. Emergency contact information is only used for intended purposes. No data sharing with third parties except as required for service operation. ### Can I use AssureOkay internationally? Yes. Phone numbers must be in international format (+[country code][number]). SMS notifications work in all supported countries. AI Phone Check-in is currently available in English only with more languages coming soon. Time zones are automatically detected and adjusted. ### I'm not receiving AssureOkay emails. What should I do? Check your spam or junk folder and mark emails from support@assureokay.com as "Not spam." Add support@assureokay.com to your contacts or safe senders list. Verify your check-in schedule is active in Settings. Enable web push notifications as a backup. Install AssureOkay as a PWA for more reliable notifications. If issues persist, contact support@assureokay.com. ### How can AssureOkay help protect my pets if I live alone? AssureOkay offers pet profiles where you can store pet names, species, medical needs, care instructions, supply locations, veterinarian contact details, and handling guidelines. All of this information is included in emergency notifications sent to your contacts if you miss a check-in. ## Pages - [Homepage](https://assureokay.com/) - [About](https://assureokay.com/about) - [Pricing](https://assureokay.com/pricing) - [FAQ](https://assureokay.com/faq) - [Blog](https://assureokay.com/blog) - [Free Tools](https://assureokay.com/tools) - [Contact](https://assureokay.com/contact) - [Privacy Policy](https://assureokay.com/privacy) - [Terms of Service](https://assureokay.com/terms) - [Login](https://assureokay.com/login) ## Feature Pages - [Safety Check-Ins](https://assureokay.com/check-in-app-for-people-living-alone) - [SMS Check-In](https://assureokay.com/sms-check-in) - [Emergency Contact Notifications](https://assureokay.com/emergency-contact-notification-system) - [AI Phone Check-In](https://assureokay.com/ai-phone-check-in-service) - [Wellness Check-Ins](https://assureokay.com/wellness-check-ins) - [Digital Will](https://assureokay.com/digital-will) - [Pet Safety](https://assureokay.com/living-alone-with-pets-safety) - [Apple Watch Check-in App](https://assureokay.com/apple-watch-checkin-app) - [Wear OS Check-in App](https://assureokay.com/wear-os-checkin-app) ## Use Cases - [Elderly Living Alone](https://assureokay.com/safety-app-for-elderly-living-alone) - [Chronic Illness](https://assureokay.com/chronic-illness-check-in-app) - [Single Parents](https://assureokay.com/single-parent-living-alone-safety) - [Solo Travelers](https://assureokay.com/solo-traveler-safety-app) - [Remote Workers](https://assureokay.com/remote-worker-living-alone-safety) - [Lone Workers](https://assureokay.com/lone-worker-safety-app) - [Daily Wellness for Seniors](https://assureokay.com/daily-wellness-check-for-seniors) - [Daily Check-In for Seniors](https://assureokay.com/daily-check-in-for-seniors) - [Fall Risk](https://assureokay.com/what-happens-if-you-fall-and-live-alone) - [Set Up Check-Ins for a Parent](https://assureokay.com/set-up-check-ins-for-a-parent) ## For Organizations - [For Organizations](https://assureokay.com/for-organizations): Daily safety check-ins for the people an organization serves, with a staff dashboard, missed-check-in alerts, consent-gated visibility, and no hardware.
